Step 1: Setting the Pitch.

The first task is to tune A4 to concert pitch: 440hz.

Step 1: Tune A4 to 440hz Tuning: (activate a pin)
  • A4 is shaded and its tuning pin activated.
  • Play it from your MIDI keyboard (or click on it).
  • Use the tuning fork above to hear 440hz (or use your own tuning fork).
  • Use your computer's arrow keys to tune: Up/Down = 1 cent. Left/Right = 0.1 cents.
  • When you have A4 where you want it, click on "Continue to Step 2".
  • A4 is now set to 440hz exactly.
  • F3-F4 are shaded.
  • All other notes will speak and can be tuned. Only F3-F4 will be graded.
  • Click on any tuning pin to activate, and then use the arrow keys to tune that note:
    Up/Down = 1 cent. Left/Right = 0.1 cents.
  • When you have finished tuning F3-F4, click "Check" to see how you did.

Overall volume

A4 = 440 (hz)

Octave Stretch: 0 (cents). If sliders are disabled, remove tuning lever first.
